The Cabinet has approved a five-year plan, which states 50 goals for Dubai, according to officials.

Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved the plans on Tuesday.

UAE will set up a new system for governance of government and semi-government companies. Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, will be supervising the system.

Under the governance system, companies will have to set up boards of directors as a supreme authority. The new system prevents the CEO from charring the board. Additionally, it obliges the boards to form committees tasked with investment assessment, risk management. Moreover, the boards should submit annual performance reports to the government.

The council endorsed an immediate embark on developing a comprehensive urban plan for the emirate. This will ensure that Dubai’s residents enjoy the highest quality of life. The government aims to provide the finest facilities for the emirate’s population.

Additionally, the government will set up a new Dubai Media Council chaired by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “We have also approved the setting up of the Dubai Media Council, which will house the Dubai Media Office, media and production cities, studios, radio networks, television and newspapers as well as the Dubai TV and Film Commission. These include economic and governmental developments, infrastructure development, improvement in the quality of life, justice and security, and health and knowledge.

In the document, Shaikh Mohammad pledged to continue work on the emirate’s development, consolidation of justice, and the improvement of life for future generations. Moreover, efforts will be taken for the rebuilding of institutional structures to set new goals and targets. This will ensure that real transformations in the emirate will maintain its superiority and leadership in the region.

The council also introduced the position of deputy general director for all Dubai departments.
